VISITS

I’m Yiorgos (George) and I’m glad to welcome you to the organic farm “Aitria” (means Holy Trinity), and to our village Kato Chorio (6 km from Ierapetra). Our farm is located just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful tree-covered square of the village, where we meet you upon your arrival. My main goal is for you to enjoy your time and have an authentic experience getting to know the rural life and culture of Crete.

In the shadow of our olive grove we will tell stories of the place from the past, about the culture of the olive tree and the important role of olive oil in the lives of the local community. We will follow the evolution of the cultivation of our aromatic plants, we will talk about the ways of preparing aromatic olive oils. We will chat with the ancient olive trees of the farm, they will reveal to us their age, they will talk to us about their lives, we will exchange our experiences and we will take some of their wisdom.

Afterwards, in our space in the central square and under the plane tree, you will taste olive oil and you will learn how to evaluate it. You will also taste flavors and aromas of local products and our internationally awarded aromatic olive oils over a light meal.

Duration: 2 hours.

Cost: 50 euros for 1-2 persons, for more than 2 persons 20 euros each, children under 8 are free. (A light meal is included in the price).
